IU Moved to Tears by Yeom Hye-ran’s Acting in “When Life Gives You Tangerines”

On April 18, a video titled “IU, Stories She’s Never Told Before” was uploaded on the YouTube channel Baek Eun-ha’s Exchange Talk.

In the video, IU opened up about working with actress Yeom Hye-ran in the Netflix series “When Life Gives You Tangerines.”

IU shared, “We only had two scenes together. I’ve always loved Yeom Hye-ran so much that I wanted to linger around her even off-camera.” She even confessed to secretly watching Yeom Hye-ran‘s scenes on set just to see her act.

“She doesn’t speak much. Even during filming, she barely said anything—but I found that so comforting,” IU added, expressing her deep admiration.

Recalling a dream sequence scene, IU said, “Just seeing her makes my eyes well up. But then she suddenly delivers a line like, ‘The lady next door bought a Dora-Q (snack),’ and I’d be like, ‘What?’ Her delivery pulls you right back. That’s how powerful her acting is.”

IU confessed she couldn’t bring herself to express her full admiration to Yeom Hye-ran, saying, “I love her so much. I never imagined we’d be in the same frame together so soon.” She revealed that although the script didn’t call for tears, she couldn’t help crying during filming. “Even her hair fluttering in the wind made my heart ache,” she said.

Host Baek Eun-ha responded with praise, saying, “Yeom Hye-ran is not only technically skilled, but she puts her heart into every moment.”
